St. Paddy's day learning

We started our day by eating green muffins, then I showed Prime a picture of a clover and he replied, "That is poison ivy! It got 3 leaves!" He was taught in his Montessori school (he went for 1 year before I started to keep him home) to beware of 3 leaves plant in case it is poison ivy.

So we took a look at real poison ivy and clover. It turns out there are lots of plants that got 3 leaves and some we thought were poison ivy but were not. So I learned quite a bit along with the kids.

Then we went to watch St. Patrick's parade. We all wore some green. This was our first time and I think the best part for the kids was getting the green beads and candy. A lot of people came, more than people expected. Many were really dressed up and it was fun to watch.

There is Izzy. She was so cute and waving at the parade. :) Prime is bold at asking for beads and candy. He is rewarded for his efforts. :)

See his treasures?? The pin was hard to come by. Star-war dressed up people showed up in the parade along with the more traditional themes for St. Paddy's parade.

On our way back, I asked the kids few easy questions regarding St. Paddy's day and Ireland and they got them correct. Who said learning can't be fun?
