Today, J girl went to her first homeschool class- Choir. She said she really like it and that her teacher is "really nice". :-) She will officially be "home schooled" next Monday, Jan. 19th, 2009.
She is also spending a little time everyday preparing for the Spelling Bee (grade 1) in early February. The list she is practicing is from the National Spell Bee and she is participating in our local homeschooling spelling bee. Honestly, I was surprised at the level of difficulty. To give an example, difficulty 1: words like child, teach, every; difficulty 2: words like village, healthy, coach; difficulty 3: equal, jury, whisper.
J girl have no problem with difficulty 1, spells wrong on about 10% on difficulty 2, and about 25% of the words on difficulty 3.
She is currently reading "Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle" By Betty MacDonald. A delightful tale about an lady who "knows everything about children. She can cure them of any ailment".
For math fun, she has been doing a little bit of Sudoku on her own.
