Fluffy/ felted soap/ winter books

Here is our little pet hamster, Fluffy. I was helping W boy clean out his cage this morning since J girl didn't get around to doing it last night. W boy normally feeds Fluffy and gives him water. J girl usually cleans the cage. And I occasionally help.

Usually, when we have visitors, the children all love to look and pet Fluffy. Most children are not afraid to hold Fluffy other than J girl. When we first got Fluffy, J girl was scared to hold him. She loved to observe him though and could spend a long time observing Fluffy in his cage at night. Now she is much better but she still prefer to look at him than to hold him. The adults who come to visit are most likely to stay away or even freak at Fluffy.

This is our felted soap we made this morning while taking a bath. We used 100% plant dyed organic sheep wool. The yellow and blue one is W boy's while the other one is mine. We wrapped wool around a bar of soap using a technique called "wet felting". We have also made felt balls using the same technique. Now we can wash our bodies with our own soap. :)

We also read lots of books about winter this morning. "Arctic-Around the clock with the animals of the Arctic" (a DK book), "Winter" by Ron Hirschi, and "Winter-signs of the Season around North America" by Mary Pat Finnegan.
