practicing faith (trust)

We were reading "God's Mighty Warrior Devotional Bible" by Sheila Walsh and came upon the topic of faith. To make it interesting and understandable, we did an activity suggested in the book.

"Want to practice faith? Have your parent (not your sibling) stand behind you. When they say "go", close your eyes and fall backward, with arms reaching outward. Trust them to catch you before you fall. Like faith in God, it is a scary exercise, But the person you trust is good. Like God, they will not let you down."

The kids stood on a little stool (from Ikea) and tried to fall back. I was surprised that J could do it easily, she seem to have faith(trust) in me and was not scared. Therefore with her it was very easy. She is normally the child in my family who compared to his brother is less of a risk taker. She likes to see you do it, then she will consider it.

Now Prime is usually my brave one. Even when he was scared as we went tobogganing once, he will say, "I am not scared. I can do it. " and tell himself over and over and be really brave. When he was little like 3, he would stand high on the stair case, leap and expect me to catch him whereas J was scared and would come down couple steps. It is most likely an awareness issue. When you don't know, you don't think there is anything scary. Anyway, not sure if Prime was scared or what, but he would tuck his butt in so it was awkward. Or he would lean not far back yet and his feet would come off the stool.

He wanted to try again this morning but still wasn't quite right. Anyway, it was fun. He hasn't given up yet. I think I will have daddy work with him and see how that goes. :)
